Unlike some of you, I can't function in an online world with just a little handheld smart phone. Heck. I don't even know where my phone is half the time, but I watch my son, daughter-in-law and my grandchildren who do everything on their devices with such ease and I'm pretty amazed, but yeah. I still use a desktop, so I'm just Old School I guess!

Anyway... there's a start up page associated with desktop browsers that shows you headlines and featured articles for topics that you've chosen and since my life is so food centric, I often get recipe inspiration from something that appears there.

That's actually where this recipe originated and it popped up on my launch page so many times that I figured it was a sign to make it. Glad I did!

At some point along the way, you've probably seen those viral TikTok Cafeteria or Buttered Noodles making the rounds on social media. I really don't know the origins of them, but by the name I am assuming that they came about from back in the day when school cafeterias actually served real food instead of the sad excuses that often grace the plates of kids today.

I personally don't remember a noodle dish at all, but I'll be honest. While I remember all of the food being homemade and tasty, the one thing that stands out the most from my school lunches are those awesome homemade yeast rolls!

Creamy Cajun Shrimp and Sausage with Noodles

A quick skillet meal of shrimp and smoked sausage with wide egg noodles in a creamy sauce.

Creamy Cajun Shrimp and Sausage with Noodles

We are so blessed with fresh seafood and Gulf shrimp is available year round, very often fresh off the boat which is my preferred method of purchase.

I'm always fooling around with different shrimp and pasta combinations to try different things and this is one of those instances. As a recipe writer and owner of a food-related website, there's a lot of experimenting and often it takes multiple tries to get a recipe just right.

At least that's my philosophy as a food blogger, because one thing I can guarantee and that is when a recipe appears on my website, it has been well-tested to meet my approval.

Parmesan Cheesy Noodles

Parmesan Cheesy Noodles

Growing up, I'm guessing that your mom, like mine, had a few, very simple, go-to side dishes that made it to the table. Buttered egg noodles or chunks of boiled potatoes or corn, usually from frozen at my house, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, tossed with butter and often, a bit of parsley were pretty common for us.

Looks like economic conditions are calling for these simple but filling meals again.

Add some cheese to those egg noodles, oven roasted potatoes when the weather isn't too hot, dressed up canned southern peas and my quick fix green beans to the repertoire, and you've got my most common, easy fix, side dishes today.

Old Fashioned Homestyle Chicken and Noodles

A whole chicken, stewed down in the same manner as homemade chicken and dumplings, but is then simmered with thick, homestyle noodles. Comfort food, indeed!

Old-Fashioned Homestyle Chicken and Noodles

Old fashioned chicken and noodles, made with home style noodles of your own or from the freezer sections of your store, is a total comfort meal, and when the temperatures drop and frigid weather is on the way nothing is as warming as a big bowl of these creamy noodles.

Like Chicken Noodle Soup on steroids. Like Chicken Noodle Soup met Chicken and Dumplings, fell in love and had little chicken noodle babies.

You know I poke fun with The Cajun (aka my husband) a bit - I can't help it, what can I say - he just gives me so much material to work with... but he really is a good man, who would give you the shirt off his back and will be there for you in a pinch, and of course I'm just having fun with him for blog material. {Yes honey, laughing at you, not with you.}

The first time I tasted this dish I fell in love with it.

My neighbor, right across the street from me, was born in Korea. She married a military man and has been living in the states for many years now, but most of her family are still living in Korea. She is such a sweet and delightful person, and I love her to death.
