Social Media Roundup HOLIDAY FAVORITES 1 - What You Missed!

Social Media Roundup HOLIDAY FAVORITES 1

Y'all. The holidays are upon us!

Course... it's way too hot here for November in the Deep South right now and I'm anxiously awaiting the return of some of those cooler temps we got a taste of recently. That sure felt nice!

But y'all, seriously. In case you haven't noticed, Thanksgiving is early this year and Christmas roars in right behind that.

Time to begin our roundup summaries of some of the holiday recipes right here from Deep South Dish that have been shared across social media platforms recently.

If you're new to these collections, I started this because while I do use social media to share recipes, so many of y'all just don't hang out on those platforms anymore these days.

Doing these roundup posts gives Deep South Dish email subscribers a chance to revisit some of the previous content recently shared on social media. You'll find recipes that you may have missed when they originally published, or even forgotten about as newer content has moved in.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback you've given me on this feature y'all!

Hopefully this will help you to either round out your holiday menu or offer up some ideas if you are dining elsewhere and need to bring a side dish or dessert. If you're just happening by and not yet on email blast, tap here to sign up for those alerts.

'Everything Salad'

This is a great salad option for the holidays. A mixture of lettuces, broccoli, bacon, mandarin oranges and dried cranberries, dressed with a sweet and sour dressing and topped with a buttery almond, pecan and ramen noodle crunch.

Did you know that chicken gumbo is a common starter at the Thanksgiving table here in the Deep South? This is a classic light roux-based gumbo, made with a cut up chicken and andouille sausage, served over hot steamed rice.

A bone-in shank portion hardwood smoked ham is heated through and finished with a cherry bourbon glaze.

Cream cheese mashed potatoes, with butter and cream of course, are all the rage these days. This version is from Martha Stewart's mom, Big Martha, and it's been a perfect mashed potato dish for the holidays for years!!

A mix of tender frozen and creamy corn, baked in a savory egg custard and a great holiday side.

Fresh sweet potatoes baked in a cane syrup and brown sugar, bourbon glaze.

A tender brown sugar and pecan cookie widely known in South Louisiana as cocoons and very popular around the holidays. Pictured here with Pecan Crispies and Sugar and Spice Cookies - also on the website!
