Social Media Roundup Soups and Stews 1

A collection of soups and stews shared on social media, that you may have missed!

Social Media Roundup Soups and Stews 1

Man has this been a crazy winter or what?

While we in the Deep South have had some extended freezes, as I watch footage shared across weather media, I wonder how some of y'all deal with that kind of weather in your day to day lives. Watching cars and trucks uncontrollably slipping and sliding on icy roads, slamming into buildings and each other like little matchbox cars, it scares me to death!

And then there's something some of us are experiencing that our elders never really prepared us for.

When the weather is that cold for extended periods of times like it has been, those of us of a certain age feel it deep in our bones and I don't mean that in a nice way. Everything hurts!

Well, thankfully we finally have a slight warm-up this week down here before the front brings in some more cold, though not as bad as recently. I know my heat-loving friends are happy about that right now.

On social media I've been focusing on shares for comfort foods, soups and stews. Unfortunately very few of our folks on social media get to see those posts there, so here's the latest round up of those recipes that I've been sharing across social media.

Visit any of the recipes below by tapping or clicking on the recipe title or the photos to bypass social media and check it out, right here on Deep South Dish website.

A creamy version of chicken tortilla soup, made with cooked chicken and fajita seasonings. Serve with a garnish of crispy tortilla strips, shredded cheese, sour cream and a side of sour cream cornbread. Tap or click here for the cornbread recipe.

A stew of ground pork or beef, andouille sausage, cabbage, the trinity of onions, bell pepper and celery, potatoes and carrots, in a chicken or beef broth base with Rotel tomatoes. You will love this one!

This chicken noodle soup is a definitive winter favorite. Made with a homemade stock from a whole chicken and fresh veggies, it's comforting, homey and healing.

A quick, small batch creamy chicken and rice soup with corn and herbs.

A hearty soup made with a chicken stock base, beans, lots of vegetables and fresh cabbage.

Russet potatoes, slow cooked with onion, celery and chicken broth and finished with cream, prepared in your slow cooker.

I love trying all kinds of different soups like this one in a beef broth and tomato base, adding in smoked sausage, sweet potatoes, blackeye peas and some cabbage.

I love a good old-fashioned vegetable beef soup made from a slow-stewed braising roast, but let's face it. It's a time consumer. This shortcut version uses lean sirloin, cooked in a beef and tomato base, with veggies, potatoes, corn and whatever leftover or frozen veggies you have on hand, will certainly satisfy you plenty.

A creamy tomato-based stew made with shrimp, crawfish and crab, and served over hot, steamed rice.
