Fresh asparagus, trimmed, tossed with extra virgin olive oil and seasonings and air fried.
Air Fryer Roasted Asparagus
I love asparagus and I especially love it roasted and let me tell you, if you haven't tried it in your air fryer, you don't know what you're missing.
Roasting really brings out the sweetness in vegetables and intensifies the flavor and the air fryer is just another great option.
IMPORTANT! Individual air fryer brands differ in wattage and how they cook; monitor any dish the first time to adjust time as needed. Total time will also depend on size and thickness of the asparagus spears. Do not overcook!
The first time I did some asparagus in the air fryer, I got a bit sidetracked and didn't keep an eye on them and found myself back to a shriveled pan of asparagus, so always keep an eye on the cooking process.
Just a quick reminder.... if you aren't interested in the chit chat, info, photos, tips, product recommendations and such on a blog, as always, you'll find the complete recipe text with measurements and instructions, as well as a printable document, a little bit further down the page. Here's what you'll need to make my version of Air Fryer Roasted Asparagus:
- 1 (1 pound) asparagus bundle, bottom 1-1/2 inches trimmed off
- 3 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1-1/2 teaspoons salt and pepper blend with garlic (like Jane's Krazy Mixed-up Original Salt Blend) *see note below
- Lemon wedge, optional
We're using a single bunch of asparagus and I like to cut off about the bottom 1-1/2 inches or so of the woody bottoms, because they can be tough and make eating asparagus an unpleasant experience. Usually that's going to be somewhere along the placement of the bottom bands.

I also highly recommend using an oil sprayer for air frying, like this EVO branded sprayer (#ad). I've tried a bunch of different types and styles of oil sprayers and got widely mixed results. The EVO is the best hands down. Each spray is only 1/4 of a teaspoon per pull, so you get excellent coverage, for maximum GBD goodness (that's Golden Brown Deliciousness y'all) but with very little oil.
Place the asparagus on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle or spray them with extra virgin olive oil and toss with the seasonings. You can also use a zippered bag for this.

By now, y'all also know I love trying all kinds of seasoning blends and here I'm using Jane's Krazy Mixed-up Original Salt Blend. I like it because along with salt and pepper, it also has a mix of other seasonings, including onion, garlic, celery seed, thyme, and oregano. You could also use some of those if you don't typically use Jane's, although it's really a great all-purpose seasoning. You know what I say though - always use what you have and what you love!
I'm also using an oven size air fryer (#ad) here, so I've spread out the asparagus among two trays. If you have a smaller, basket style air fryer you may need to do this in batches.

Depending on size and thickness of asparagus, air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, swapping trays halfway for oven style air fryer. For more crisp tender asparagus, check at 5 minutes. Transfer to a platter and squeeze a lemon wedge all over the asparagus before serving.
