If I close my eyes, I can transport myself right back to the Pier House Resort down in Key West, sitting in a chaise lounge by the pool bar, engulfed by a jungle of tall palms and tropical plants, sipping on a mojito, and listening to a band playing songs of the islands, the night sky so clear that you could see every star forever. Ahhh... yes. Calgon take me away!

Sort of like the flavor of a cheese straw, cheese bites are another very popular southern appetizer, but with an unexpected crunch that comes from Rice Krispies cereal that'll have folks wondering what it is. Some folks call these cheese cookies, but whatever you call them, they are a great make-ahead appetizer munchie for any party or gathering.

How can you not love quiche? I mean a mix of buttery onion, with wine and cream and eggs and cheese, poured into a flaky crust, makes for one fine quiche, but mix in some crab too? Yes please! If you enjoy a good quiche and you are a lover of crab like I am, you will definitely enjoy this.

I adore this salad and I can certainly make a meal of it. Made with lightly blanched broccoli, red onion, celery, carrots, plumped raisins, nuts and bacon, and finished with a sweetened mayonnaise and vinegar dressing. One thing is for sure - broccoli salad has been a southern potluck and party favorite for as long as I've been around, and it'll be a great addition to your gathering too, or just for a nice light meal on a hot, hot summer day.

A delicious candy made of chocolate chips, condensed milk, chopped peanuts and marshmallows, that is a great sweet treat that you don't need to wait for the holidays to enjoy.
