Walkers Shortbread Cookie Review

I recently had the opportunity to try out several of the Walkers brand of Scottish shortbread cookies and of course the very first thing I did was to taste-test some of them right out of the box. As soon as I tore into the first bag, the aroma of pure butter immediately drifted out, and get this ingredient list - flour, butter, sugar and salt - that's it!

Shortbread is one of my favorite cookies, so I was delighted to try these to begin with, but I have to say these award winning cookies are superb.  These are pure, beautiful and delicious cookies y'all, perfect for tea time. And the taste is simply heavenly.

Walkers has been around since 1898 when the then 21-year old Joseph Walker opened his village bakery, with the dream of making the finest shortbread in the world. His shortbread was so in demand, that he had to move to a larger location in Aberlour in the Speyside District of the Scottish Highland and purchase a horse and cart in order to deliver his baking further away.

To this day his grandchildren and great-grandchildren still use his original recipes to make their shortbread products. You can purchase them online and, not that it applies to this recipe, but there is even a Weight Watchers line, as well as an extensive line that includes shortbread with stuff like ginger, lemon, raspberry, chocolate chips and other add-in ingredients, plus snack packs, oatcake crackers, Scottish cookies, gift tins, and a corporate gift line.

Give Walkers a try - I think you'll love them. And, don't forget to check out this amazing Banana Pie I made using Walkers cookies for the crust - I think you will love it too! Happy eatin' y'all.

Disclosure:  Walkers Shortbread provided me with free products. The recipe and opinions are all mine.
