Easy Greasy Product Review

A brand new, redesign of the old kitchen strainer, you'll find yourself reaching for the Easy Greasy time and again!

Back when I was originally scheduled to appear on QVC with my new cookbook, I heard from another gal who was going to present a product there close to the same time as me. We got to chatting and when she explained what her product was, I was intrigued, so she sent me one. Y'all know how much I love a good kitchen gadget, and Michelle is the inventor of this clever redesign of a commonly used kitchen item she calls Easy Greasy.

When it was delivered, I barely had it out of the box and washed, before I found myself grabbing it. I was searing off some Italian sausage, added water to the skillet and got distracted with the kids. I smelled my sausage on the edge of burning, ran to the kitchen, grabbed the first thing I saw, the Easy Greasy, and dumped the sausage in it! It handled the heat from the hot grease with no problems and I salvaged my sausage. Once I transferred them to a plate, I used the Easy Greasy to rinse and drain the beans for the sausage and peppers dish I was making.

When cooking with ground beef, I love using a good ground chuck because it's flavorful, but it creates a lot of excess grease that you really don't want in your dish, so it has to be drained off. I imagine many of you have done the strainer balancing over a bowl thing just like me, which is tricky and really not all that efficient.

Easy Greasy makes draining cooked meat like ground beef easy peasy, so I suspect most of you will use it for that very purpose the most, but I promise you, you'll quickly find other uses for it too. I've certainly used it to drain off ground beef, but also some oysters I was getting ready to fry.

I've since used it to drain pasta and rinse vegetables too, and after draining, you can set the colander right over the handy dandy bottom bowl, and leave it on the counter, freeing up your sink space. You can even line it with some cheesecloth during jam and jelly making time. Frankly, I'm finding myself reaching for the Easy Greasy far more than the other colanders I own, and I know you will too.

Proudly made in the U.S., BPA Free, dishwasher safe and easy to clean, this three-piece strainer holds up to three pounds of ground meat at one time, so it's roomy, and its shape helps to prevent spills. It's heat resistant and can easily manage hot grease. Once cooled, the grease can be scooped out and discarded safely in the trash.

The way the strainer sits in the bottom tray, literally makes it hands-free, and the flat bottom and unique straining slotted design allows the food to spread out more, drain faster and helps to prevent clogging during draining.

It also has a pouring spout and handle, making it much easier to carry and transfer drained food to where you need it for the next stage of cooking. It also works perfect for those times you want to drain, but reserve, some of the liquid.

The storage bowl can hold up to 5 cups of liquid and includes a lid for storage too, which with the lid, nests nicely inside the colander for easy storage. This really takes the old kitchen strainer to a whole new level and I never thought I'd say this about a strainer, but I absolutely love the Easy Greasy!

If you've got a housewarming or bridal shower coming up, or a new graduate moving into their first apartment, what a great gift to add to a kitchen basket. While you're at it, be sure to get one for yourself too! You'll find Easy Greasy available online at Amazon, Bed Bath and Beyond, QVC (currently on waitlist only), and at the Easy Greasy website.
